Logline: A young lads loud headphone music has surprising consequences for the people around him.

This Hertfordshire University project is a great calling card for the visual effects students involved. They've incorporated the effects nicely into a quirky plot where there is a good balance between the visuals and the storyline.

There is a fluid structure with clean set up, progression and conclusion. Without going overboard, the impressive FX's are spaced out well and used as a story telling method rather than being pure spectacle. As with most music videos, the soundtrack is also used to emphasize story beats and turning points. There is good bookending both before and after the track that rounds off the film well. Stephen Page plays the oblivious teen as well as mixing the energetic soundtrack which is contemporary, fitting and also influences the edit.

Not relying on the FX's to do all the magic, there is also a high degree of quality in the camera shots used, picture quality, pace, and in the editing. The block disintegrating effect looks seamless and perfectly natural against the filmed footage. The one that does let them down though, is the very last one where the blocks look too computer generated and stick out like a sore thumb. Although the blocks stand out as the best FX, a whole range of others have also been applied which vary in subtlety but all work together to create a very good example of each students skills.

Best Bit: The cool VFX's.

Worst Bit: The very last VFX.

Final thought: Makes it look easy.
